Acivir Cream is utilized for the treatment of chickenpox (varicella) and shingles (herpes zoster). It can also be applied for initial herpes simplex infections, including genital herpes, preventing herpes simplex in individuals with weakened immune systems, varicella zoster, herpes zoster (shingles), and the management of recurrent herpes simplex.
Follow your doctor’s instructions when using Acivir Cream. Refer to the medicine label for precise dosage information. Initiate treatment with Acivir Cream at the first indication or symptom of shingles or genital herpes (such as pain, burning, or blisters). In the case of treating an acute outbreak, maintain the use of Acivir for the entirety of the treatment course, even if you start to feel better within days. For continuous therapy, Acivir Cream is most effective when taken at the same times daily.
If you forget a dose of Acivir Cream, take it as soon as you remember. If it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and return to your usual dosing routine. Avoid taking two doses simultaneously.
Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of its components.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about any medical conditions, particularly if any of the following are true for you: you are pregnant, contemplating pregnancy, or are nursing; you are using any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, herbal supplements, or dietary products; you have allergies to medications, foods, or other substances; or if you have kidney issues or a compromised immune system.
All medications can have side effects, although many individuals experience none or only mild side effects. Consult your doctor if any of these common side effects continue or become troublesome: diarrhea; general discomfort; headache; nausea/vomiting.
Seek immediate medical assistance if you experience any of these severe side effects: serious allergic reactions (including rash, hives, itching, trouble breathing, chest tightness, or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); aggressive actions; blood in urine; confusion; decreased alertness; reduced urination; hallucinations; lower back pain; alterations in mood or mental state; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; seizures; or unexplained bruising or bleeding.
